Get in touch with someone who understands. The penpals scheme puts people affected by lung disease in touch with each other.

People with a lung condition and those who care for them can often feel isolated. Having a penpal to share advice, frustrations and encouragement with can be a valuable source of support as well as a great way to make new friends.

The penpals scheme can be particularly helpful to those who find it difficult to leave the house.

If you feel isolated living with your lung condition and would like someone to talk to about your hopes and fears or if you find it hard to get out and about but would enjoy regular contact with someone with a similar lung condition, you could join the hundreds of penpals who have already signed up.

“The penpals scheme is a fantastic way to make new friends for people who can be quite isolated due to illness. It’s also great that many different forms of correspondence can be used, modern and traditional – you can use whatever is best for you or learn a new skill”

Penpals are matched on the basis of the information supplied; however this does not guarantee that any two people will get along. The BLF only provides the means for people with lung disease to contact people in similar circumstances.

It does not pre-screen potential penpals and is not and cannot be responsible for the behaviour of any person using the penpals scheme.
