Policy and public affairs officers

We are looking for 2 new policy and public affairs officers to join our small but ambitious team and lead our policy and influencing work on air pollution and health services.

Location: London, EC1V 7ER
Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 (dependent on experience)

Interview date: Monday 12 February 2018

In both of these roles you’ll lead on the development of policy positions on air pollution and devise plans to influence government policy. In fast paced policy areas, you’ll need to stay abreast of developments and respond quickly to announcements and developments. You’ll be working alongside other charities, think tanks and industry groups to work in coalition to drive change

We are looking for someone who has experience of successfully influencing policy and working with politicians to make things happen. In particular, you should have a strong understanding of the political environment and how parliament works. Ideally you’ll have some knowledge of air pollution and/or health policy, but more importantly you’ll be able to get to grips with new, complex policy areas quickly.

You should be able to build relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including BLF colleagues, politicians, civil servants, academics and other charities.

Lastly, you will have the ability to collate, analyse and order information from stakeholders and from your own research, to produce policies that are insightful, evidence-based and robust.
