London to Paris cycle: what's in store?

Our London to Paris cycle challenge lasts 4 days. Here's what each day has in store.

Day 1: London - Dover - Calais

  • Early start from Blackheath Common in London
  • Cycle through rural Kent, over the hills of the North Downs to Dover
  • Catch the ferry to Dunkirk, having dinner on board
  • Cycle the short distance to the hotel 

Distance cycled: approximately 130km (80 miles)

Day 2: Calais - Amiens

  • Head south from Calais, through beautiful rural landscapes
  • Cycle through ancient Desvres and head south, parallel to the coast
  • After reaching the picturesque valleys of the Canche River, head southeast towards Doullens, following the Authie River
  • Continue south through the villages of the Somme before reaching Amiens
  • Spend night in a hotel

Distance cycled: approximately 160km

Day 3: Amiens - Paris

  • Early start cycling through the centre of Amiens
  • Head south through quiet villages and farmland
  • Pass the 14th-century Chateau de Folleville, pedalling through Breteuil and alongside the Brèche river
  • Head further south, making several short, steep climbs
  • After lunch, cross the River Oise 
  • Pass the remains of the beautiful Royaumont Abbey before reaching the suburbs of Paris
  • Ride through the suburbs of paris, following the northern esplanade before finishing under the arches of the Eiffel tower

Distance cycled: approximately 146km (91 miles)

Day 4: Paris - London

After successfully cycling from London to Paris, you can soak up the amazing atmosphere as you watch the final stage of the Tour De France to see who will be wearing the yellow jersey over the famed Paris cobbles. Don’t worry about your bike - it'll be taken back for you by the Discover Adventure crew.
