Mesothelioma patrons that offer legal assistance

Our patrons, who offer legal assistance, have made generous donations to our mesothelioma research fund.

All of our patrons below are independently accredited law firms, with a vested interest and experience in mesothelioma. We thank them for their generous donations, as we endeavour to find new ways to prevent, treat and cure lung disease.

Wolferstans Solicitors

Wolferstans

The specialist asbestos team at Wolferstans has years of experience assisting asbestos sufferers, or any other lung-related conditions and helping their families when the disease has sadly been fatal. We are well known for our success in actions against the Ministry of Defence, power stations, ship repair yards and for those employed as plumbers, carpenters, electricians and in the construction industry.

At Wolferstans we work with specialist medical and nursing experts together with hospices to provide our clients with the best possible service. We will seek early payments in order to fund any care, equipment or home adaptations that may be required. We will also advise and assist you in making an application for benefits which are available from the government for related conditions.

If you were exposed to asbestos, or a family member of the person that worked with or came into contact with asbestos, please do not be put off claiming for your injuries if your employer has since ceased trading. Wolferstans solicitors can trace the insurer accountable for your employer at the time of exposure.

For free initial advice please contact our specialist team on 01752 292362 or email dcruickshanks@wolferstans.com. We are able to meet with you at a time and place that is most convenient whether that is at home, in hospital or in our offices in Plymouth.

Hodge Jones and Allen solicitors

Isobel Lovett is a Partner and Head of Industrial Disease at HJA. Along with her colleague Andrew James they have a combined experience of over 50 years working for victims of mesothelioma and other asbestos diseases.

The team works with clients who have suffered as a result of asbestos exposure obtaining compensation and in some cases, funding for novel treatments not available on the NHS. Isobel recently obtained compensation for her client who was forced to retire from their role early due to developing mesothelioma. Fighting on behalf of her client, she obtained an early judgement and secured interim payments to pay for her client to receive costly immunotherapy treatment. The case settled for a six figure sum with an agreement future treatment costs would also be paid as needed.

Andrew has also secured compensation awards for numerous clients whose civil claims couldn’t proceed as the employers and their insurers had gone out of business or couldn’t be traced; a common problem in mesothelioma claims due to the long latency period of the disease. By making applications to the Diffuse Mesothelioma Payment Scheme, in suitable cases, Andrew has successfully obtained early payments for his clients who would otherwise be deprived of compensation for their illness.

Simpson Millar

Simpson Millar

As a historic trade union firm, Simpson Millar – a Fairpoint PLC Company – is experienced in helping mesothelioma patients and their families.

We understand the devastating effect a mesothelioma diagnosis can have on families, which is why we are proud to support the vital work done by the BLF.

Through outreach campaigns, we raise awareness of the dangers of dormant asbestos and work tirelessly to make the public aware of the health risks associated with asbestos exposure.

One of our most recent campaigns was for the late Susan Stephens, a former primary school teacher whose daughter, Lucie Stephens, set up an online petition to raise awareness of asbestos in schools and led to a call to remove the material from the nation's classrooms.

Our specialist asbestos team know that after a diagnosis, patients want the best possible treatment options. It is for this reason that we adopt a holistic approach and run all of our asbestos-related claims on a no win-no fee basis, without making any deductions from clients’ compensation; this allows any claims to be used to organise the very best treatment and to support families if the worst should happen.

Leigh Day

Leigh Day has specialised in asbestos cases for over 25 years, both in the UK and across the globe.  Our Lawyers have represented thousands of clients and are renowned for our dedication, commitment and excellent service.

We advise our clients on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis and they keep 100% of their compensation.  We visit our clients at their home or wherever they may be.

We have built good relationships with medical practitioners and Court experts and are respected.

Our lawyers regularly provide lectures on the law and asbestos issues, as our cases have set precedents which others follow.  We have won the highest amounts of compensation for our clients in these cases.

One of our lawyers raised over £60,000 for research to find a cure for mesothelioma, as her father died from mesothelioma.

We have represented the Asbestos Victims Support Groups Forum UK (who represent asbestos charities around the UK) on numerous occasions in Court cases to protect the rights of victims of asbestos disease, some of which have been against the Government/Lord Chancellor of the Day, overturning legislation.  We have won these cases.

We understand the emotional and legal needs of victims of asbestos disease.
