Smoking

We must do more to help people quit smoking and ensure everyone gets the care they need.

The poorest people are times more likely to smoke than those living in the least deprived areas. This level of inequality isn't fair. Everyone who wants to quit should be able to use a stop smoking service that caters to them. Getting specialist support alongside medication is the most effective way to quit smoking.

We need funding for local stop smoking services.

Plan and fund effective, high-quality stop smoking services which are accessible to everyone who wants to quit

This will be measured through the following measures of success:

  • All local authority areas to commission specialist stop smoking services open to all smokers, and all NHS trusts to run in-house stop smoking services for all patients, in line with NICE guidelines
