Our top stories from 2019
Take a look back at some of our favourite blogs from the past year.
2019 was a great year for the BLF. We held our first Love Your Lungs week, had our highest number of amazing supporters take part in events and we ended on high, with our announcement of the new Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation Partnership.
We also continued to be inspired by your stories. So many of you shared tales of bravery in the face of lung disease, and we were moved by your strength. It’s not always easy to share your story, but we know that reading about people who have faced similar challenges can be of great comfort.
Here we share some of our favourite stories of the year.

I wish I'd acted sooner when I got a persistent cough
When Andy got a persistent cough, he explained away the symptoms. He wishes he'd seen the signs and gone to the doctor earlier.

Active Steps gave me my breath back
After being diagnosed with a lung condition, Eamon was constantly breathless and started to give up. Finding the Active Steps programme gave him a new lease of life.

My COPD and NTM symptoms are very similar
Rebecca lives with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and is being treated for non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection (NTM). She’s looking forward to being clear of the NTM infection after 18 months’ treatment.

My dad’s battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Kellie’s dad passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). She shares his story and how she’s raising awareness of the condition.

As a younger person with COPD I feel like an outsider
Tracy put her breathlessness down to post-baby weight and tiredness. She then found she had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma.
Do you have a story to tell? It could be about your lung condition, a friend or relative you know who lives with one, or how caring for them impacts your life. We'd love to hear what you've got to say!
