Our free will writing service
Having a will is incredibly important, and we know that many people can be put off by the cost.
We’ve partnered with the National Free Wills Network and solicitors nationwide to provide a will writing service that is free for people who want to write or update a simple will.
We’ve also partnered with Farewill, who provide an online will writing tool, so that you can choose to write your will from the comfort of your own home.
There is no obligation to leave a gift in your will to the British Lung Foundation when you use our free will writing service. However, after providing for your loved ones, please consider joining the fight against lung disease with a gift in your will to us.

Why does BLF offer a free will service?
We offer our free will service to help make it easier for you to write or update your will.
Can I use the free will service?
Anyone aged 55 and over can use the service. You can even use the service to write a mirror will with your partner.
However, there are a limited number of wills that can be written each year so this offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is any will free?
Most simple wills are free using our free will service.
Who’ll actually write my will?
Alternatively, you can write your own will, using our online will writing service. All you have to do is fill out the simple form, detailing what your wishes are. Then print it off and get it witnessed. This service in only available in England and Wales.
Do I have to leave BLF a gift to use the service?
While most people who use our service very kindly choose to leave a gift, you are under no obligation to do so. We understand that friends and family must come first. But we hope that when you use the service, you will consider leaving a gift to us.
How do I apply?
You can register by completing one of the forms above. You can also email [email protected] or telephone Elle Cohen in our wills team on 0300 303 3564.
What happens when I request my free will writing pack?
We will send you a pack detailing the participating solicitors nearest to you. You can then choose which one you prefer and make an appointment, making sure you mention the National Free Wills Network.
During your appointment your will can be written according to your instructions. You will be asked to complete a confidential declaration form, which will be sent to us so that we can pay for your will at a discounted rate.
Alternatively, you can use our online tool to write your will yourself, in 4 simple steps, from the comfort of your own home. The tool has live support from will specialists, who will be able to guide you through the process. Please use the code blf100 to claim your free will.
The National Free Wills Network conforms to relevant regulations of The Law Societies of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the Charity Commission and the Institute of Fundraising.
Any solicitor you are referred to as part of the National Free Wills Network is an independent professional from whom you will receive impartial and confidential advice. All Network solicitors are members of their relevant Law Society. Inclusion of a firm of solicitors in the Network does not imply a recommendation by BLF.
