Asthma + Lung UK responds to the latest NHS announcement on Long COVID.

“I’m pleased to see the NHS tackling this debilitating condition head-on and committing money to refresh their Long COVID plans. Currently, many people living with Long COVID are struggling to access the care and support they so desperately need. Our helpline team frequently hears from people who are living with persistent breathlessness, coughing and chest pain, as well as other symptoms for weeks or months after the infection has gone.
“We welcome ambitions to reduce the time people are waiting for their first assessment into Post COVID services and to give people better access to local tests. But it’s vital that all barriers to specialist care are removed so everyone can access the support they need. No one should be left fighting for breath on long waiting lists.”
