Parent and Carer Support Network

Welcome to our Parent and Carer Support and Information page. We aim to provide a space for parents and carers of children with all lung conditions to come together.

Having a child with a lung condition can have a massive impact, not only on a child, but on the whole family. Connecting with others in a similar situation can be a source of comfort, support, and information.

Our Parent Carer Support Network is a safe and friendly place to talk to other people who understand. Members can listen to children’s respiratory experts, ask questions, learn about the latest information, and research available and share first-hand experiences. The network is available to all parents and carers, wider family members, medical professionals and students, teachers, or those of you who have a deep connection with children who have a lung condition.

It is natural to feel a range of emotions following any health scare, hospital admission, asthma attack or diagnosis, and it is healthy to talk about these feelings, rather than bury them. It is often the time after a medical crisis that, as parents and carers, we can start to feel overwhelmed and fearful for what the future holds. You are not alone, and we are here for you.

We are holding FREE events over Zoom with expert speakers, on a variety of themes relevant to parents and carers of children with lung conditions.  You can find out more here.

Volunteering

All our support groups are run by volunteers and offer peer to peer support. If this is something you would be interested in becoming involved with, please email us on: volunteer@asthmaandlung.org.uk
