Building a respiratory data platform

Without a commitment to build the best platform for conducting research, millions of people will be left struggling to breathe.

Data sharing is key to understanding lung conditions – their long-term progression as well as the immense economic and health burden they lead to.

5.4 million people receive healthcare at an annual review. To provide the best care and advice we need connected datasets to identify individuals’ risk of lung disease and inform better healthcare management.

We’re calling for:

  • A lung patient cohort to unlock our understanding of diseases like asthma, emphysema and lung fibrosis (scarring).
  • New research questions to unpick the causes of lung conditions and develop best practice for managing them.
  • Better use of NHS and real-world respiratory data in research and innovation though an advanced data capacity platform.
